Ranchi: Jharkhand plans to establish the country’s first Herbal Park in Dumka immediately.
On Sunday, the Director of the State Agriculture Service, Nisha Oraon Singhmar, said the state government had given its agreement on their ambitious project and would immediately start a floating tender.
“We hope to start floating tenders in October-end.
We are in the process of concentrating plots and if things according to the plan, almost 10-crore-park Hospital must begin to form at the end of this year,” Nisha said.
The park will be a one-stop destination for those who conduct research in herbal plants and it will help in promoting various organic and scientific planning among farmers.
“It’s quite a new concept and such parks don’t exist in many places except in some states like Haryana and Uttarakhand,” he said.
The government aims to be sensitive to people about herbal farmers through this pilot project to produce work and encourage investment in this sector.
“Besides being a recreational place, we aim to develop this park as a place for research and academics among herbal medicine students.
Farmers will also get exposure to the latest trends and techniques from their herbal cultivation, usability and market demand,” Nisha said.
He added that it would also help the state in developing natural-based herbal tourism centers in Jharkhand for promotion of sustainable livelihoods in the herbal sector and opportunities for the herbal processing industry in the region.
Other officials added that in the initial phase of its formation, efforts will be made to preserve the wealth of state herbal plants and then, important exotic and rare herbal plants will be fostered in the park.
Quoting the main features of the garden, the official added, “The park will consist of aromatic herb parks, spice herb parks, kitchen herb parks, harden ornamental herbs, cosmetic herb gardens, along with facilities for irrigation and micro network irrigation systems, postage processing Post Harvesting, pot and distillation oil extraction units, candy making units, herbal shampoo and soap making units, among others.
