Oslo: The new variant of Delta’s tensions from Coronavirus has been detected in Norway, which is considered no more contagious than other strains, NRK Broadcasters reported Monday, citing the Norwegian Public Health Institute (NIPH).
NIPH reported the first case of the Norwegian version of the Delta virus at the end of June, and has since spread throughout the country, according to the news.
Experts believe it is no more dangerous than ordinary delta viruses, and the existing vaccine does not lose their efficiency towards it, NRK noted.
“We do not have data that the vaccine does not work against this variant, there is no important reason for concern,” Karoline Bragstad, a senior researcher at NIPH, was quoted as saying.
The variant has been internationally recognized as AY.63 and was labeled as “first seen in Norway,” said the announcer.
