Yangon: Closed Military Court in Myanmar has sentenced a member of Parliament from the National Party Aung San Suu Kyi for the Democratic Party (NLD) and a leading democratic activist to death, Al Jazeera reported on Saturday.
Phyo Zeyar melting NLD, who was arrested in November, was sentenced to death due to violations based on the country’s counterterrorism law, the media outlet quoted the statement from the general reported.
Leading Democracy Activist Kyaw Min Yu, better known as Jimmy, was given the same sentence, the statement was added.
“The Burmese military has distributed the death penalty for leading activists, Ko Jimmy & Zeeyar melting.
This may be the latest effort by the military to destroy the differences of opinion & people’s hopes …

Al Jazeera reported that they were found guilty of violations involving explosives, bombing and finance terrorism, but the details were faint due to blackouts in the process.
Myanmar plunged into the crisis when the Head of the Min Aung Hlaing Army replaced the Chosen Government of Aung San Suu Kyi and seized power for the military on February 1 last year.
The coup encouraged mass protests and civil disobedience movements, and thousands had been arrested in military efforts to take action against differences.
Nearly 1,500 civilians are expected to have been killed, according to Al Jazeera.
