Lucknow: Secretary General of Congress Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday accused the Government of Uttar Pradesh to have a ‘forest law’ in the state with the police ‘soft on criminals’ and savages for ordinary people.
Priyanka Gandhi made alleged two days after a 36-year-old Lucknow businessman died at the Gorakhpur Hotel during a police attack on it on Monday night, encouraged the authorities to suspend six police and ordered it on charges of murder on Tuesday.
“According to a report, a businessman in Gorakhpur was beaten by the police so much that he died.
This incident has spread fear among the general public from all states,” Priyanka Gandhi said in his tweet on Wednesday.
“Jungle’s legal state is under this government that the police are soft on criminals and behaved with the shared people,” Congress leader, at this time in a visit to Lucknow, added.
Canpur Manish Gupta businessman, who came to Gorakhpur to see developments in the city and have stayed at the hotel, died during a police attack at the hotel on Monday night.
Gupta Meenakshi’s wife accused the police beat her husband to death but the police have denied the allegations and said he received a head injury after he fell on the ground because he was drunk.
The authorities since then suspended six police officers, including the Ramgarh Tal Police Station Sho, and a case below the 302 part of the IPC (murder) has been registered with them.
