Vadodara: Last year, the number of robbery had dropped in the city during Diwali because there were not many who came out for vacation in the midst of covid restrictions.
But the theft gang is expected to be active again in this diwali and has a business community and citizens who are worried.
The police, said that they had planned to deal with theft and robbery by stepping into the city area for the next two weeks.
“We have approached police officials and asked them to increase police patrols in certain areas in the city.
With Diwali around the corner, the robbery gang and robbery are expected to target residents.
The police department can provide a sense of security and business community,” Parish Parikh said, the organizer of the Vikas Vikas Vikas Association (VVVA).
During Diwali, thousands of people flocked like Mandvi, Nyay Mandir, Raopura, Rajmahal Road, Nava Bazaar, Mangal Bazaar and Chowkhandi for shopping.
And many of them became victims to choose and robbers.
Also, the theft gang of the adjacent district attacks when people lock their homes and go for their holidays or natives.
Some gangs even broke into stores stocked with expensive items during Diwali.
Shamsher Singh City Police Commissioner said that the trader community had approached them for help.
“Our team has met with jewelry and shop owners and asks them to save their CCTV in active mode.
Those who don’t have CCTV are urged to install it,” Singh told Toi.
The police also asked traders to oversee their area and report every person or suspicious activity to the police.
“Many police officers patrolled in residential areas and commercial in civil dresses,” said Singh.
The police will also increase night patrol in various regions in the coming days.
“Those who go to the holiday must notify the local police station so that our team can patrol in their area.
Residents must also be alert and help the police in handling crime in the city,” Singh added.
