Pune: The assistant police assistant who was dismissed carrying a hostage girl inside the house and shot a senior officer before being defeated in the Ahmednagar Maharashtra district on Thursday, police said.
No one was injured in the incident and the girl was saved safely, officials said.
This drama took place in the village of Digraj, five km from the city of Rahuri, said Manoj Patil, Ahmednagar district supervisor from the police.
Sunil Lokhande, the defendant, has several personal disputes with the girl’s mother, he said.
“He broke into the woman’s house this morning and took her female host.
Deputy SP Sandip Mitke, Senior Inspector Rajendra Ingle and the others reached the place and tried to persuade him to come out,” SP said.
When Mitke entered, Lokhande appointed a gun at him.
“Mitke tried to catch a gun barrel and there was a fight where Lokhande was fired.
But Mitke was lucky and not beaten,” said Patil.
Others immediately beat Lokhande and save the girl.
The case is being registered with it, said Ingle Inspector.
Lokhande was arrested in a case of extortion in 2012 and then dismissed, officials said.
