Mangaluru: a large project to remove mangaluru city heritage waste on the dumping page in Pachanady has not been approved by the Ministry of Finance even though the country’s cabinet has cleared it in August last year.
Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) to clean nearly 10 lakh tons of waste inheritance from Pachanady using biomining technology.
The same was approved by the State Cabinet on August 19, 2021 and City Corporation had completed the bidder from Hyderabad to carry out the biomining process.
However, the Ministry of Finance has not cleared the tender.
“In accordance with the direction of the Central Polution Board, DPR Rs 73.7 Crore for the management of Legacy waste (LWM) prepared.
Based on the Civil Cabinet Approval, City Corporation has invited a tender to do a LWM to clean about 50 meters-high waste which covers up to 2 km of site TPA in Pachanady.
The bidder of the National Farmers Procurement Federation, Processing and Processing of Indian farmers from India from Hyderabad was chosen to carry out LWM.
The proposal was also sent to the government to be approved.
However, the Ministry of Finance has not cleared the proposal, “said Mayor Premanand Shetty.
The work for cleaning inheritance waste will begin at Pachanady as soon as the proposal is approved by the Ministry of Finance.
For the management of regular solid waste in the city, City Corporation has sent two DPR to the government as a contract now from the cell handling Antony (AWHC) ended this month.
Meanwhile, the MCC Board has also sent a proposal to the government which seeks the expansion of AWHC’s contract for another year.
AWHC can continue the collection of door waste-to -door until the government approved the DPR, the mayor said.
