KABUL: Minister of Higher Education Afghanistan, Abdul Baqi Haqqani on Sunday said that the reason behind the closure of the university was a shared education and economic crisis.
The Taliban Minister said that they had to make a separate class for girls and hire extra lecturers who need more time and extra budget, report the Khaama press.
Haqqani is visiting Pakistan recently discussed the issue of Afghan students with relevant Islamic officials and administration.
“We discussed the issue of Afghan students and we were guaranteed by Pakistani officials.
Pakistan increases annual scholarships for Afghan students of 500.
Afghanistan will be given 1,500 scholarships every year,” said Haqqani.
Meanwhile, Haqqani also said that no country was allowed to provide direct scholarships to people and that scholarships would be managed through the Ministry of Higher Education, reported Khaama Press.
He has suggested building an independent university for Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
“Pakistan is the ideal country for Afghan students who are looking for higher education because this country is cheaper and has similarities with Afghans,” added Haqqani.
It comes as a state university and middle school for girls has not been reopened.
Taliban, after siege, proposed a coeducation ban.
Group officials also ordered that girls will no longer be allowed to sit in the same class as boys at the University, Khaama Press reported.
