Mangaluru: Residents who live near Padil (twin Padil Cross) continue to live in fear because of a non-scientific design and sharp turn here which causes small accidents, largely summing up vehicles.
The latest incident occurred on Wednesday morning where a heavy-layered bitumen-load truck and blocked the road.
According to residents, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is aware of turn, but has not yet appeared with any solution.

“We are always at the recipient’s end because the wrong design of the road that often causes an accident.
There is a slight big accident witnessed every day for the past few years.
But there is no action initiated so far,” complained of residents.
“Every time there is an accident, especially the driver, I go and give them water and first aid.
The steep curve on both sides witnesses at least a small / big accident every week,” said an old woman, living close to the place.
NHAI has not been able to find a concrete solution for not scientific turn to continue to be a trap death for motorists.
Roopashree, who is the regional corporator, said he had met Nhai officials several times.
“They say that they cannot find a solution because the road cannot be widened and there is no land available,” he said.
He also proposed speed breakers, but Nhai rejected it.
