Dubai: Young Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad is happy that he can take responsibility for guiding Chennai Super Kings to the total victory finally from “difficult situation” against the ruling champion Mumbai India in the opening match of the second phase.
This 24-year-old Gaikwad scored unbeaten from 58 shipments to guide CSK to battle 156/6 from 24/4.
CSK finally won the match with 20 run on Sunday.
“Obviously the situation is difficult because most of the top orders come out.
I have to take responsibility and then find a way of how we can reach up to 120-130,” said Gaikwad to Teammate Deepak Chahar in the video posted on the IPL website.
“And after spending time on the target extended by 10 runs every time, 140-150 looks possible.” Gaikwad took responsibility for himself after Like Faf Du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina and Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was dismissed early, while Ambati was injured.
Gaikwad and Senior Pro Ravindra Jadeja (26) shared a crucial 81 walk to the fifth goal to take CSK forward and put the foundation for the total victory.
“The conversation I have with Jaddu Bhai (Jadyja) includes building a partnership, it is a plan and fortunately it was executed,” said Gaikwad, who pocketed the fifth male award from the IPL match.
“Our preparation is good, we come a little earlier here than other teams.
We have a lot of match simulations where we try to simulate blog overs batting and also early in an inning, set a target too.
