Nagpur: In unique initiatives, the Maharashtra government has kicked the ‘Women4Plimination’ program aimed at bringing women in Mumbai together to combat climate change.
Under this program, the state government along with the C40 city network will focus on raising leadership quality in women so that the stage can be set for the next generation of climate leaders.
Women will get the opportunity to develop and implement actions to accelerate their climate projects, and develop strategies to achieve the entire target of sustainable development goals.
Minister of Environment The neighborhood of Aaditya Thackeray asked women to take part in this initiative and protect the environment from the effects of climate change.
“Women always play an important role in bringing revolutionary change in society.
Therefore, we have initiated an international guidance program to study women’s leaders at the forefront of this green revolution,” Minister said.
Highlighting that Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) focuses on making more urban forest shrubs, Thackeray said it must be ensured that citizens are involved in planting genuine trees, and cool the environment.
He then announced that 1,900 electric buses would be added to the Fleet of Electricity Supply Brihanmumbai (Best) in 2023.
At present, 386 electric bus plying in megacity.
Providing more information about the Women4Climate program, officials say climate leaders will be elected through the city guidance program that will try to place the women’s mentees under the guidance of a mentor.
“This program will also empower them with the tools and assistance needed.
It will also set up monthly webinars where the mentes of various cities gather to learn about their respective initiatives, share their achievements and ideas for improvement.
Women4Climate will provide support Holistic to further develop climate knowledge and mentees leadership, “he added.
