Ranchi: The Jharkhand Government has agreed to review the terms and conditions of Joint venture – (JV) Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) – Taken with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) after the MLA Congress collected the Central PSU by violating the provisions of the agreement.
Pvunl was formed through the Agreement Memorandum (MOA) between Jharkhand Bijli Vitara Nigam Limited (JBVNL) and NTPC in 2015.
During the question and answer hours of the ongoing winter session from the Assembly, the Mla congress from Godda, Pradeep Yadav, highlighted violations of the provisions of the agreement.
He said, “JV does not fulfill his commitment to authorize the state or adhere to the first phase commissioning timeline from 2400MW power production in 2019.” JV, signing during the BJP government, should provide 500 MW of power to the state.
Yadav then asks the government if willing to revise the provisions of the agreement or continue to buy power at a higher level than other sources.
He also asked the government to explain the steps taken to mitigate the power crisis in the state.
In response, the minister responsible for power, Banna Gupta announced on the floor of the house that JV’s terms and conditions will be reviewed.
While answering Yadav’s question, Banna acknowledged that this project was postponed and expected to launch its first phase in 2023-24.
“There are some problems with the acquisition of 730 hectares and we are speeding up this problem.
As far as revising the provisions of the agreement with the concerned NTPC, the state is ready to ensure that the customer gets an adequate power supply,” he said.
In a written reply, the government also clarified that after delay delaying Pvunl generator, NTPC provided 100MWS power to the country – 50 MWS each of the Farakka III units and Korwa.
