KABUL: Taliban forbade cutting in the southern Afghan province of shaving or beard trimming, claiming their decrites in line with Sharia, or Islamic Law.
The order in Helmand Province was issued Monday by the Deputy Deputy Government of the Provincial Taliban to the barber in Lashkar Gah, provincial capital.
“Because I have heard (about the ban on beard trimming) I was broken hearted,” Bilal Ahmad said, a resident of Lashkar.
“This is a city and everyone follows a way of life, so they have to be left alone.

Barbershop Jalaluddin owners, who are like many Afghans are only one name, saying he hopes the Taliban will reconsider their demands.
“I ask our Taliban brothers to give freedom to people to undergo the way, if they want to cut their beard or hair,” said.
“Now we have several clients who come to us, they are afraid, they don’t want to cut their hair or beard, so I ask them to let people free, so we have a business and our people can freely come to us.” Other barbershop owners, Sher Afzal, also said the decree hurt the bottom line.
“If someone comes to cut hair, they will return to us after 40 to 45 days, so we influence our business like other businesses,” he said.
