KABUL: Before the first straight talks with the US since withdrawal of August, the Taliban on Saturday ruled out cooperation with the US to contain extremist groups in Afghanistan.
Taliban political spokesman Suhail Shaheen said there would be no cooperation with Washington in carrying the Is-K group that was increasingly active in Afghanistan.
Is-k has been responsible for a number of recent attacks, including suicide bombings on Friday which killed 46 Shia minority Muslims in a mosque in the northern city of Kunduz.
“We can handle DAESH I (S) independently,” Shaheen said.
