Vadodara: Karjan police on Wednesday arrested three people who used to deceive people who did not suspect and suck money from their bank account at the ATM.
Police said that the trio had committed such fraud in Vadodara, Bharuch, Anand, Narmada, Chhota Udepur and Ahmedabad in the past.
According to the police, the defendant would steal the victim’s debit card by turning their attention by turning their attention.
“They used to roam in the ATM booth and target those who enter to withdraw cash.
One of the defendants will stand behind the customer and record a pin when the victim put it in cash,” the police said.
Other defendants will then trace conversations with the victim by saying that he needs to withdraw cash and will remove the debit card from the ATM and replace it with another card.
He will then hand over a duplicate card to the victim.
“It will all happen in a few seconds before the victims can realize anything.
The defendant will then use the victim’s debit card to withdraw money,” Police added.
On the basis of tip-off, the police arrested Om Prakash Chamar, Pratapsinh Rajput and Anup Kumar Chamar near ATM outlets from the commercial complex in Karjan.
The police recovered 30 debit cards, three cellphones and swipe machines from the trio.
They have been booked for similar fraud in the past in Karjan, Waghodia, Manjalpur and DediaPada too.
