KABUL: The UN Security Council announced that he had extended the release of travel ban on the senior member of the Taliban led by the Taliban in Afghanistan, including the first Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, for a period of 90 days.
In the announcement on Friday, UNSC said that the ban, which came into force on Wednesday, will last until March 21, 2022, Tolo News reported.
In addition to Baradar, there are 14 other Taliban members on the ban list, including Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
“The release of travel prohibitions is solely for the journey needed to participate in peace and discussion of stability in various countries,” Tolo News quoted Ungsc who said in his announcement.
“The individual travel plan will depend on the location of the Peace Discussion.
The Committee has also decided to provide the release of freezing assets only for financing excluded travel.” The Taliban-led government welcomed the Unsc decision, calling for the abolition of the names of its leaders from the United Nations and US blacklist.
“It is necessary to remove the names of Islamic Emirates officials from the United States and the United Nations Blacklists under the DOHA agreement,” said Inamullah Samangani, Deputy Spokesperson for the Islamic Emirates.
