WASHINGTON: Recognizing October as Hindu Hindu Months, Indian-American Congressman King Krishnamoorthi said that Hindus were guided by Swami Vivekananda’s call to serve and respect all religions and people.
“Madam speaker, I know all Americans from Goodwill sharing this belief, and today I want to celebrate the work of Hindus who are loyal in building bridges of understanding between all Americans, because of our important contributions to our economy and our cultural and citizenship life, And for the part they play in creating our extraordinary and different American experiences, “Krishnamoorthi, representing the 8th Congress district of Illinois, said on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Hindus in the United States includes doctors, lawyers, scientists, economists, philosophers, artists, academics, business leaders, government officials and members of Congress, he said.
Hindus in the United States celebrates October as a Hindu Hindu month.
So far more than half a dozen countries have issued a proclamation in this matter.
“Madam’s speaker, today I got up to join many Hinduism in the United States in recognizing October as a month of Hindu months,” Krishnamoorthi said.
“The 8th Congress Regency is home to many unique unique religious followers, and I want to celebrate the valuable contribution of the Hindu community to the district and country and our country,” he said.
“I believe this recognition is very timely, given the increase in prejudice and racism in the country, including the Hinduphobia as manifested in a speech full of hatred and acts of violence carried out on Indian-American and Hindu worship homes,” Krishnamoorthi said.
He said Hinduism came from thousands of years and had affected the ancient and modern culture.
“The message about the tolerance of religious, non-violence and universality of human experience was introduced to this country in 1893 by Swami Vivekananda at the address of his landmark in the world of religious parliament in Chicago, Illinois,” he said.
“Swami Vivekananda peace words and their emphasis on self-esteem and service to others triggered interest in Hindu faith and contributing to Hindu growth in the United States.
His spiritual understanding has a big influence on one of the biggest leaders in one of the biggest leaders of the 20th century , Mahatma Gandhi, who in turn inspired important works from one of our most respected leaders, Martin Luther King, Jr., to advance the causes of civil rights in the United States, “Krishnamoorthi said.
