New Delhi: Traditional ‘Halwa’ ceremony, which marks the beginning of the printing of budget documents, will not be done this year after the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.
In the official release, the government said that instead of conducting a ceremony, candy was given to core staff members who would now remain in “lock-in” at their workplace.
Officers and this staff will come into contact with the closest and loved ones only after the budget is served in parliament.
It is an annual tradition for the government to conduct a ceremony a few days before presenting the budget.
What is the ‘Halwa’ ceremony as part of the budget making ritual, ‘Halwa’ was prepared in the great ‘Kadhai’ (large fried pan) and served to all staff at the Ministry of Finance.
The significance of sweet dishes is that after being served, a large number of officials and support staff – which are directly associated with the process of making and budget printing – it is necessary to stay in service.
Who attended the ceremony ceremony was attended by the Minister of Finance, the Secretary at the Ministry, the Budget Division officer and two tax wings and staff members, were locked in the press budget until the speech was finished.
They don’t even have access to their family members.
The budget becomes green again this year is a historic step, the Union 2021-22 budget is delivered in a paperless form for the first time.
Last year, Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman readed his budget speech from a handheld tablet.
This year the budget will be presented in paper without paper.
He came to the parliament who brought a gadget into a red ‘bahi-khata’.
The Minister of Finance also has a ‘union budget application’ or the complexity of the hassle of budget documents by parliamentarians (parliamentarians) and the general public.
This year will also be available in the mobile app after the budget presentation process has been completed.
This application allows complete access to 14 union budget documents, including budget speech, annual financial statements (commonly known as budget), demand for grants (DG), financial bills etc.
As determined by the constitution.
The cellular application is bilingual (English & Hindi) and is available on the Android and iOS platforms.
