Chennai: Explain that the consumption of liquor at the club and association without liquor permits is illegal, Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu DGP to form a specialized regency team to inspect all clubs and associations and crack down on the illegality.

Justice S M Subamamaniam passed orders in the defense transferred by Kancheepuram’s reading room and tennis club who tried to hold the police from harassing its members who consumed liquor at the club’s place.
“The club does not have a valid license to sell liquor or consume the same thing in the club, which is a public place.
Thus, the assistance sought in WRIT petitions will now be rejected,” said the court.
