Madurai: City and District Police on Wednesday issued guidelines and tight meetings in public places for new year celebrations as of December 31 and January 1.
Security will be tightened, especially in important public places, with around 2,500 police personnel Deployed throughout the city and the district limit on the bandobust.
According to the statement from Madurai City Police, meetings on the side of the road or celebrations such as cake-cutting in public places are strictly prohibited.
Vehicle riders are also caught up with driving under the influence of alcohol and those who are caught will be arrested.

He also said that strict action would be taken against anyone who violated the guidelines and disrupted peace.
The police said that the public can use the police emergency helpline number 100.112 or the Kavalan application – SOS to get any assistance.
In the other South Tamil Nadu District, similar guidelines have been issued by various local police authorities.
In districts such as Ramanathapuram and Tuticorin, the meeting on the beach has also been banned.
