Guwahati: Chairman of the Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Justice Arun Mishra, while making a statement on Friday in the alleged fake meeting by Assam police in the state since May, said there should be no room for fake meetings.
He was overcoming the media briefing here after holding two days sitting sitting and public open audience ‘for cases of human rights violations.
“There is no room for a fake meeting in a civilized society.
They are savage.
There is no room for instant justice in this country and the law must take its own path.
Anyone found guilty in court and punished in accordance with the law,” he said.
The country witnessed at least 31 deaths in police action when trying to escape detention since the BJP-led government took over in May this year.
Lawyers based in Delhi Arif Jwadder in July have submitted complaints with NHRC for alleged fake meetings.
After this, the Commission has issued a notification to the Assam government and Assam police.

NHRC can recommend for compensation, registration of criminal cases against those involved in fake meetings and recommend actions against those who are found guilty if there is a meeting.
