Thiruvananthapuram: With bright weather helping work, the construction of the diaphragm wall as part of the reconstruction of the Shangumugham road and the path has increased.
This work is expected to be completed in the last week of February.
Road construction can only be started after the diaphragm wall work is complete.
The wall will be built at an 8m depth and a width of 50 cm.
The diaphragm wall is understood as a protective cover that will keep the ground from the ups and downs.
It can only be built with the help of the machine, which must be transported from Pune to the place.
Before the diaphragm wall construction, the wall guide must be built to provide a grip on the machine.
The construction of the wall guide has begun and workers work day and night to complete the project before the engine arrives.
The wall guide is a temporary platform that provides a handle on the machine.
The diaphragm wall will be built between the wall guide.
This will be removed after the construction of the diaphragm wall is complete.
Because beach land is not tightly packed, the Bentonite solution must be used before the construction of the diaphragm wall.
The wall will be built with concrete.
Large stones will also be placed around 4m in front of the wall.
Gujarat-based companies have been entrusted with the construction of diaphragm walls.
