Rajkot: Three community agents of the Gondal Mercantile Cooperative in the city of Gondal Rajkot were booked on Wednesday by cheating at least 30 people, most bets every day, Rs 93.45 lakh for the past few years.
A pine was put forward against Ketan Bhalala, his brother Dinesh Bhalala and Anil Bhalala, by Sanjay Dabhi (28), a resident of Khodiyar Nagar at Gondal Town.
Dabhi accused the defendant raised his money but did not deposit it with the cooperative community.
Gondal police said that like Dabhi, 30 others have submitted a complaint against the trio.
Until now, it was revealed that the defendant cheated more than 30 people Rs 93.45 lakh, police said.
The defendant was ordered under various parts of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) including 420 (cheating and inducing property delivery), 406 (punishment for criminal violations of trust) and 114 (Abettor is currently committed).
According to Dabhi, the bet every day, he has given Rs 1.50 lakh to sticky rice to open a permanent deposit with the community of Gondal Mercantile Cooperative.
His mother has also given Rs 2.85 lakh to sticky rice for several years as part of the community daily savings scheme.
However, in June this year, Ketan died of Covid-19.
The depositors then went to the cooperative community to ask about their deposits.
But the bank told them that there was no such deposit in their names.
This was when the depositors realized that they were cheated by sticky rice and two brothers, police said, added that more people were expected to file complaints against the defendants in the coming days.
