Rajkot: Police Amreli arrested three gang members who used to hack the Facebook account of people and asked for money from their friends through UPI payment channels.
According to the police, Mastermind Pritesh Prajapati, a Mehmadabad resident was an expert in hacking a Facebook account.
Police also arrested Chetria’s Chetria and Jagdish Akshay, residents of Bhanvad Taluka from Devbhumi Dwarka District, because it allowed Prajapati to use their bank account to deposit the money he got from the police Facebook, Prajapati used several techniques to get OTP (one-time password) from users for Change the FB account password.
He used to fake the victim’s aadhar card and then use it to generate a new password with a new email ID.
Deputy Amreli Police Inspector J Handari said, “The defendant used to get money through UPI in a bank account of people who did not have a lot of banking knowledge.
In this case, two other accused allowed Prajapati to their bank accounts in exchange for monetary benefits.” The police said that Prajapati had claimed to have hacked into a two-person FB account from Amreli and one of Junagadh.
He allegedly disabled friends of these people to pay for Rs 45,000.
Police said that Prajapati was ordered for various violations at eight Morbi police stations, Rajkot, Mehmadabad, Valsad and Sabarkantha.
