Milavce, Czech Republic: Three people died and tens were more injured on Wednesday when two trains collided in a village in the west of the Czech Republic, according to train officials.
Munich-to-Prague Express, the ex 351 number belonging to the German company Die Laendbahn, collided with a regional train that comes from the opposite direction, between Czech cities from Plzen and Domazlice.
Rescuer said two dead people were the Czech engine drivers, one of which operated the German train.
The third victim is a female passenger on the regional train.
Some foreigners traveled by German trains and some of them were among the injured local media.
“Unfortunately, according to the latest information, the train collision …
has killed three and left dozens of injured people,” said the National Sprava Zeleznic train operator on Twitter.
“All passengers have been evacuated from the train,” added the company.
The National Police said that every passenger was taken into account, adding that the accident occurred shortly after 8:00 (0600 GMT) in Milavce.
Previously, the savior said 31 people whose lives were not in danger of being treated and seven others were in critical condition.
According to the recording shown on the Czech public television, one part of the German train was completely destroyed, even though the two vehicles remained upright.
Die Lendahn said in a statement that “running the train on the Czech side is the responsibility of the CD”, Ceske Drahy, the State passenger train operator.
Czech Transport Minister Karel Havlicek said “Ex 351 does not respect the signal …
and crash into a regional train”.
“The situation is serious,” Havlicek said when he headed to the crash.
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis tweeted “sincere condolences to the families of the dead.
It is important to save other lives.
Then everything must be investigated.” “Unfortunately, this summer is full of tragedies,” he added.
Last month, a rare tornado tore several villages and czech cities, killing at least five people.
Four helicopters, some ambulances and dozens of rescuers were sent to the site.
“The German Red Cross, Bavarian Ambulance Service and Doctors from (German City) Cham are also on the scene of the train,” Czech Police Tweeted.
“The German police also offer assistance,” they added.
Two train crashes in the Czech Republic in July last year made three dead and dozens of injured.
The Czech Republic has seen several other fatal train accidents for many years, including those who killed 118 people and injured 100 in 1960, when the country was still part of Czechoslowakia.
