Chennai: Two men sneaked into the house and fled with gold and cash after binding a woman who was alone in Uthiramerur, about 90 km from the city, near Kancheepuram on Thursday.
Police are looking for two suspects with the help of CCTV camera recordings from the nearest houses.
Divya women, 28, who lived with her husband Selvakumar, 35, and Father Gnanaskanan, 56, at home in Kavanipakkam alone at home when the robbers slipped home through the open back door, police said.
Divya was in the kitchen and did not pay attention until one of them threatened him in the knifepoint.
He asked him to part with gold and cash.
When he refused and shouted for help, one of the robbers was clogged and tied his legs and hands.
Then, the duo searched the Bureau and Almirah.
They took four sovereignty of gold jewelry from his neck, buttons of earnings, and five sovereign gold jewelry from the safe.
When his father returned home for lunch, he found the front door locked from inside.
Because he did not get a response from his daughter, he went to the back door and found it unlocked.
He went inside and was surprised to find his daughter lying down and tied on the kitchen.
After he turned it on, he told the incident.
Based on Divya’s complaint at the Uthiramerur police station, a case has been registered.
Even though GnanasParan did not install a CCTV camera at his home, the police collected recordings from the nearest residence and a team was looking for a suspect.
