Chennai: Tamil Nadu will start vaccination against Covid-19 of 33 children who meet the requirements of the lakh, aged 15-18 years, from Monday.
The Chairperson of the Constitutional Court Minister Stalin will inaugurate an inoculation drive at the Saidapet Government Middle School.
MA Subramanian Health Minister said 26 children lakh at Tamil Nadu School and four Lakh engineering students have been identified for vaccination drives.
Speaking of possible third waves, Subramanian said the state has reported the maximum number of new Covid cases on May 21 (36,184).
“We are not sure whether the number of cases will be reported at this time.
However, Omicron patients are testing negative in a brief duration,” he said.
The swabbing was collected from such patients at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital twice – on the third and fifth day after entering.
They were dismissed after they tested the negative in both occasions.
Tamil Nadu reported 1,489 new Covid cases on Saturday.
These numbers are expected to rise on Sundays.
The report suggested eight people from Raj Bhavan tested positively recently.
