TN: Omicron Scare increases Vax coverage in Trichy

Trichy: It seems like fear of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 is persuading people who previously hesitated to get Jab advances to vaccinate.
The average vaccination per day has surged in around 50% in the past two weeks.
In addition to scare, the efforts taken by rural medical officers such as conducting vaccination camps at night for labor and agricultural tribes has increased vaccination coverage to 83%.
From an average of 10,000 to 12,000 shots per day in November, 15,000 to 17,000 people were vaccinated in the first week of December.
People realize the emergence of Omicron will progress alone while, for those who do not get information well, medical officers explain to people who are not vaccinated about the threats caused by Omicron.
“People who missed their second dose for weeks now stepped forward as a result of scare omicron.
We also remind them of them regularly,” said Dr.
A Subramani, Deputy Director of Health Services, told TII.
Compared to Trichy Urban, the rural health team has been puzzling the public.

P Sampath Kumar, a rural medical officer.
With the help of rural NGOs, health workers marked the number of family members who were vaccinated and were not vaccinated in front of their homes for follow-up.
Dr.
Hakkim Mohammed, coordinator, urban vaccination camp, added that Trichy Corporation had witnessed a surge in vaccination after the Omicron variant was revealed.
