Chennai: Fresh cases in Tamil Nadu came under 600-mark on Friday with 597 new cases, ten less than the calculation on Thursday.
Seven deaths took the cumulative toll road from March 2020 to 36,714.
At the end of the day, the country issued 681 patients from the Covid registry and there were 6,798 patients in the active registry.
Four patients with a history of travel to England, each of the Africa and Europe was tested positive for Covid-19, in addition to one patient from Andhra Pradesh which traveled by road.
With a new cluster, new cases in Chennai continue to increase on Friday with 146 new infections.
Epidemiologists say there is a marginal growth rate, but there has been no surge in peposititivity, or hospitalization so far.
After Chennai, Coimbatore reported 90 new cases and Chengalpet reported 53.
All other districts reported more than 50 cases each.
While 22 districts report cases in one digit, Ariyalur and Theni report zero new cases.
Meanwhile, 1.4 lakh people took vaccines against Covid in government vaccination centers on Friday.
It takes the calculation of doses in the state to 7.8 crores.
