MySuru: University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor G Hemantha Kumar said that to build a healthy nation, citizens, and especially young people, must know how to prevent disease and stay healthy.
He spoke after inaugurating the ‘Pink Hope Day’ event, where cancer survivors share their experiences, organized by HCG Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology, in its place on Saturday.
Hemantha Kumar said that 40% of the 133 country crore populations were young people between 13 and 35 years old.
“To build a healthy country, we must know how to prevent disease and overcome it.
Before HCG Bharath Hospital began in Mysuru, patients used to go to Bengaluru for treatment.
Hospitals in Mysuru have brought hope for patients, by providing quality treatment,” he said.
District Health Officer Dr K Prasad said that India had progressed in the health sector.
“Because of the availability of advanced technology and quality care, one’s age, who is 60 years old, has now increased to around 67.
Although there were 144 hospitals in MySuru, Bharath Hospital was the only hospital for cancer patients.
It has saved a lot Valuable life, “he said.
Sharing his experience, Devaki, a survivors, said that he had very good health, and used to undergo a healthy lifestyle.
“I was surprised when I was diagnosed with cancer.
Positive attitude, confidence and determination needed to fight disease.
Through this group, we spread awareness among cancer patients,” he said.
Likewise, Jayashree and Swamy, both cancer victims, also share their experiences.
Head of the HCG Bhio radiation oncology and medical supervisor Dr.
M S Vishveshwara said that patients not only needed care and suggestions, but also courage and confidence to undergo treatment successfully.
“Understanding the importance of this, we conducted a discussion of supporting groups with existing patients,” he said.
