PANAJI: With the tourism season the top of the Goa in international corners and tourism began continuing, Goa police have decided to increase alertness in the state, especially to thwart domestic and international tourist abuse.
The police have begun to order criminals and brokers who are targeting tourists, the supervisor of North Government Shobhit Saxena to reporters on Sunday.
He said that the tourist police had been deployed along the coast of Goa to not only help tourists but also overcome complaints of harassment.
“I will not say there is an increase in harassment of tourists, but Goa is a global tourist destination and like all global tourist destinations, there are several examples of harassment,” Saxena said.
“There are immoral people who try to cheat tourists, who try to regret them and we order many people under the tourism trade law.” SP said that the police maintained the closure of brokers, malpractices and illegal vendors who harassed tourists.
“His actions were far more than the previous years,” he said on the sidelines of a cycling expedition.
Saxena, who also heads the crime branch, said that detectives also maintain a watch close to foreigners who have sent and related to drug trafficking.
“We have also conducted a full foreign survey to see who lived here illegally.
We tried to identify them and we tried to take action against them,” he said.
In 2019, the police won drugs worth Rs 10 Crore and several foreigners ordered under narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances acting for drug ownership.
The police guarded a close watch on those previously ordered and their colleagues.
Saxena said that the police wanted to “attack hard against drugs and bite them in Bud” to ensure a safe tourism season.
“We hope to see a safe tourist season for everyone.
