Trade License Problem Stir Debate at MCC

Mangaluru: Nearly 15,000 traders within the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limit has been doing business without a trading license from a local urban body, the Corporator Naveen d’Souza from Congress has said.
The Mayor of Programand Shetty, however, said that the number of traders who have not obtained a license will be around 7,000.
D’Souza told Ti that even though City Corporation spent nearly 40,000 commercial doors, only around 19,000 filed a license from City Corporation in 2021-22.
“More than 20,000 traders in the city have not submitted a request for a trade license.
The majority of them are doing business without a license.
Some may not start a business or close after opening it.
However, at least 15,000 without a trade license in the city,” he said.
Mayor Shetty said: “To make a more transparent trade license approval process, the city has launched software.
Mangaluru City Corporation is meditating on the survey to identify illegal traders and issue a license after collecting a penalty on violators.” Shetty added: “All new and new licenses Year 2021-22 will be processed through new software.
About 6,000-7,000 Traders run a business in a good city by not getting a license from the PKS or not an existing updating.
“The Mayor said:” A survey will be made to bring all businesses under reception AMB trade on UN 2021-22.
Payment of Rs 10.48 Crore was received from 15,964 applicants for 2021-22 and 2022-23, said an official.
