New Delhi: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has suggested that the definition of the word ‘addicts’ can be eliminated and vice versa such people are referred to as ‘users’ and ‘depending on substance’, in an effort to increase NDPS acting.
Emphasizing that users and dependents are arrested with a small number of drugs and their families must be treated as “victims” and not the cause of substance abuse, the Ministry of Justice and empowerment has suggested mandatory rehabilitation and treatment and penalty.
The recommendations responded to requests by the Revenue Department for possible modifications to narcotics drugs and Psychotek ACT 1985.
