Trichy: Nearly 1,000 kg of tobacco products are prohibited worth Rs 30.5 lakh confiscated in Trichy on Tuesday.
The police arrested four people in connection with seizures and confiscated a car from the defendant.
Based on tip-off, the police team searched and around Sanjeevi Nagar.
During the operation, the team watched the registration number of KA-09 C-7543 car bearings and intercepted him with suspicion.
When the team checks the vehicle, they see 64 bags of tobacco products are prohibited like Hanz (30 bags), cool lips (24 bags), vism and side (10 bags) in it.
The team recovers products along with cars.
They also secured two occupants of vehicles identified as Somusekar, 22, and N Manojkumar, 26, from MySuru in Karnataka.
Based on their statement, the team arrested two more people identified as V Baskar, 50, and his brother T Muthu from Kambarasampetta in the Trichy district.
Police restored Rs 3 lakh from the duo obtained from selling tobacco products.
The police registered a case against four under three parts of the IPC and further investigation.
Police Commissioner, Trichy, G Karthikeyan visited the castle police station and inspected the products confiscated and appreciated the police personnel specifically to act quickly.
