Shrinivasa.mmysuuru: The first public bicycle sharing system in this country Trin Trin, which was inaugurated in June 2017, was all set for major upgrades and modernization.
The Directorate of Tanah Urban Transportation (Dult) and MySuru City Corporation (MCC) are ready to use technology including the Internet of Things (IOT) to provide further encouragement to Trin Trin which is now one of Mysuru’s main tourist attractions.
PBS Modernization Proposal includes an increase in conventional bicycles to bicycle battery-powered assists, a shift from the block style dock to the dock-less system, and the introduction of the IOT-based integrated key system.
According to improvement and modernizing PBS proposals, it has been planned to increase the number of bicycles to 1,000 in addition to increasing the cycle hub to 100.
The idea behind this exercise is to record the potential of city tourism, reduce operational costs, wider coverage area, easy accessibility with the system is fully automatic, etc.
According to the proposal, PBS modernization will provide way for three different technology interventions in the current system.
This includes an increase from conventional bicycles to bicycles with pedals – helping to reduce stress and impact on the knee and thigh driver for pedaling in the city’s wavy field.
Health travel users or other users can choose the pedal like a normal bicycle, whenever they want.
PKS has proposed a bicycle assist pedal battery.
The proposed shift from the block style dock to the dock-less system will make the system more flexible.
Ioot-based integrated keys on bicycles not only make independent bikes from fixed infrastructure such as beams or bollard but are also efficient and effective in terms of ease of operation, strong care properties, and low maintenance costs.
MCC has invited national competitive offers for this purpose.
1,000 Electric Bilahles Assisted Pedals, Commissioners, Dult, said this exercise has been taken to further extend the network and connect more places and add more cycles.
Trin Trin currently has 15,000 registered users and its use increases from 1.4 rides per cycle per day in 2017 to 2.2 in 2019.
Post Covid Lockdown, the trend of use gradually increases, but has not reached pre-covid levels.
Trin Trin is based on docking technology.
Now, application-based Dock-less technology is available.
The newly improved trin trin will side with side and will have an electric bicycle assisted pedal, he said ..200 vehicles are recorded every day in the middle of the increase in Covid-19 cases, the number of vehicles continues to be good.
According to Trin Trin Manager Asha Keratty, Trin Trin recorded an average of 1,000 to 1,200 vehicles every day now.
“On weekends, this service is not available due to weekend hours,” he said.
