Mexico City – Tropical Storm Pamela forms the Pacific Coast of Mexico Sunday and is estimated to strengthen into a storm before hitting the beach somewhere near the Mazatlan port in the middle of the week.
The US National Storm Center said the Pamela center was around 505 miles (810 kilometers) south of Mazatlan on Sunday night and moving west-northwest by around 12 miles per hour (19 kph).
The storm has a maximum wind of about 50 miles per hour (85 kph).
Pamela is expected to turn north and northeast, it is close to the southern tip of the California steel peninsula Tuesday or early Wednesday on the strength of the storm.
Pamela is then expected to cross North Mexico and can approach the Texas border as depression on Thursday.
The storm center warns of the possibility of a wave of life-threatening storms, flash floods, and dangerous winds around the impact area this weekend.
