Vadodara: It is conceived for a decade back and even after a series of changes in their plans and shapes, the Vishwamitri River Bank project has not seen concrete developments.
It seems like it just became a stack of controversy that didn’t seem to end Sabarmati Riverfront at Ahmedabad.
Even the state government promises assistance and declaration is also made in this matter.
It was even found to mention in the budget, but the work did not begin.
In addition to developing rivers in the Ahmedabad line, the most important goal of this project is to ensure that the problem of flooding in the city is being treated.
Big widening and river deepening is planned to increase its capacity to carry water.
The preliminary report on this project was prepared and shared with civil bodies by agents involved in the work at Ahmedabad.
But the main concern was expressed about the river bankruptisation and other aspects.
In 2016, this project was even challenged in the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
Be aware of development, VMC attracts applications that are looking for environmental permits.
After this, civilian bodies decided to change the project plan and bring the focus of environmental aspects.
The crocodile park proposed on the banks of the river was carried out because it also violated the norms.
To speed up work, this project was then included in the list of works based on City City initiative.
A little audible about the project until recently, when tenders to prepare detailed project reports for rivers are placed before the permanent committee.
Vikerary VMC said that the main reason for delays is environmental complications.
He added that VMC hopes that the initially mimic Sabarmati Riverfront will be ideal because it is a successful project.
However, unlike Ahmedabad, the civil body faces a big obstacle.
Supervising Niraj Jain who has taken the cleanliness of the ‘Ghats’ in the river says that the city has a puddle of environment and excellent architects.
