Letter: Two people involved in at least 16 chain violations claimed registered throughout the city were arrested on Monday and valuable items worth Rs 10.36 lakh recovered from them.
The defendant was identified as Ganesh alias Ganiyo Vagh (22) from Bhim Nagar and Vijay Kangriwala (46), a resident of Ramdev Nagar Society in the Udhna City area.
During the main investigation, it was revealed that Ganesh and his aide Akshay Shinde was a chain of snatchers while Vijay gave them motorbikes used to commit crimes.
Vijay was cut from every chain they stole, police said.
The defendant, police said, was involved in at least 16 chain violations claimed registered in police huts Umra, Adaja, Sarthana, Khatodara and Jahangirpura.
Ganesh is a historysheter and has 25 serious crimes registered against it.
This includes murder, efforts to kill and loot.
According to the police, on February 3, an IT professional who had returned from the US was robbed from the gold chain by Ganesh and Akshay at a knife point in the Umra area.
Then they were stopped by two policemen in a civil dress near the Rokadiya Hanuman temple in Khatodra.
The defendant wore a monkey hat pulling out a knife and waved in both police before they attacked one passerby Minesh Bhatia (52) and fled with his moped.
