Thane: Two people died after a compound wall of the city council’s garden collapsed on Wednesday night due to heavy rains in Ambernath East.
Official officials said that the incident took place in the Mahalaxmi Nagar area in Ambernath.
The firefighting team said that a compound wall of about 15 meters high up to 15 feet collapsed towards the narrow path side used by the locals.
The Ambernath fire brigade team rushed into spot spots, recovering two people from debris and sent them to the central hospital where the doctor said they were taken dead.
R B Patil, the Ambritath Fire Fire Brigade said, “We use the JCB machine to check if anyone else is trapped under the rubble”.
Patil further said, “The main probe shows that because of a sudden heavy rain, the wall compound collapsed”.
Police Shivaji Nagar local said they had not identified the dead.
On Wednesday night, Mumbai and side by side Thane and Navi Mumbai witnessed sudden and light heavy rain caused great discomfort for citizens.
