Guwahati: The number of patients infected by Omicron in Assam has risen second, said the Minister of Health of the Keshab Mahanta on Wednesday night.
He also said the state government was in a position for hospital hospitals 25,000 covid patients if necessities arise.
After a 13-year-old boy from Dighu in Kamrup (Metro) tested Omicron Positive at Meghalaya, he told the media that a 35-year-old man from the Hojaai Assam District was found Positive Omicron.
“People from Hojai returned from Saudi Arabia and Neis Lab in Jorhat confirmed the status of omicron-positive on Wednesday morning,” Manganta said.
He said Saudi Returnee was placed immediately after testing a positive Covid, but Covid’s status was recently negative.
Manganta said that since December 12, a total of 1,598 positive covid samples were sent to the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) in Kalyani in West Bengal and from 1,438 this report was received by the State Health Department.

Manganta said the state health department was ready to overcome the surge in Covid cases by streamlining health infrastructure amid the threat of Omicron.
“As many as 4,991 insulation beds are ready in the state and this, 308 or 6% are occupied.
Overall 2,613 beds supported by oxygen are also ready, although only 105, accounting of up to 4%, is occupied now,” he said.
He further informed that 285 ICU beds and 650 ICU beds with ventilators were ready in the state, but each of the 11 and 16 beds currently occupied.
