Rajkot: A 37-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man was tested positive for the Omicron variant at Kutch District on Saturday.
According to the Kutch district government, both of them have returned from Tanzania and were treated at Bhuj’s private hospital.
The two of them were under supervision after they landed at Ahmedabad airport last week.
Gujarat reported 23 new cases of the Omicron Covid-19 variant on Saturday, taking the calculation of such infection in the 136th state, the health department said.
The day before the country reported 16 cases like that.
A 60-year-old Covid-infected man died during treatment at G G Jamnagar Hospital on Saturday.
According to health officials, he also suffered from hypertension.
He was taken to the hospital in a critical condition and immediately subject to ventilator support.
On Saturday, 61 people were tested positive for Covid-19 in Rajkot including six under the age of 18.
According to health officials, 20 people were tested positive in rural areas of Rajkot.
A total of six people tested were positive Covid in Jamnagar and seven in Junagadh.
