Mangaluru: College PU Girls Govery in Udupi has firmly told that students wearing ‘hijab’ (Islamic headscarves) will not be permitted in the classroom.
The authorities’ decision was announced on Monday by Udupi MLA and the President of the Higher Education Development Authority K Raghupati Bhat, after a meeting with four of five students who had protested the decision of the college authorities by boycotting classes.
Bhat said it was impossible to allow students to wear headscarves in the classroom where only uniforms were allowed.
The parents of the girls have also been told about the decision.
They said they would make a decision after talking to male members from their families.
He said from Tuesday, students would not be allowed to create chaos or confusion on the campus campus.
Representatives of organizations and media people will not be permitted on campus.
Steps have been taken when colleges receive complaints from parents from other students during the time inspection approaching, said Bhat.
If their students or parents have further complaints, they must take it with the district commissioner deputy, said MLA, just adding those who follow the discipline will be permitted on campus.
