Ahmedabad: The statue of the unity in Kevadia in Narmada District Gujarat will remain closed for visitors between October 28 and November 1, considering the National Unity Day celebration on October 31 to mark the 147th birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, officials said on Sundays.
The 182-meter statue dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the highest statue in the world, is the main tourist attraction.
The office of the Chairman of the Statue of Unity Administrator said in a note on the official website that a statue along with other attractions will remain beyond the visitors from October 28 to November 1.
It is being carried out considering that the preparation took place for the National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diawas, for Celebrated on October 31 to mark the birth alert of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a official said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will most likely visit Kevadia on October 31 to mark the 146th birthday of the Iron Man of India, even though it has not been officially announced, he said.
In 2014, the government had to observe October 31 as the National Unity Day to “provide an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country.” The statue was inaugurated by PM Modi on October 31, 2018, and he had visited the site every year since it was to mark the birthday of Patel and pay a flower wage.
