MySuru: As the oldest university in the state, the University of Mysore (UOM) must lead in the implementation of the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP-2020), said Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayana on Friday.
The minister, participating in the workshop on ‘NEP-2020’ organized by the UOM and the State Higher Education Council, said that the new policy was directed at the empowerment of the vulnerable parts of the community.
“This will help improve the quality of government education by facilitating collaboration, partnerships, and offering online content,” said Ashwath Narayana.
The Minister also inaugurated a number of development projects initiated by UOM such as a career center, hostels for research research, centers of excellence and Hassan Academic Bhavan.
He also inaugurated the first floor of the newly built study center using a deer grant from Yuvaraja’s College.
Ashwath Narayana, who also inaugurated UOM Constituent Universities in Hettur, Tandaambi and Halli Mysuru, said that the career center would help 1,000 students get a job.
“Given the great demand for skilled and talented professionals throughout the country, the establishment of a career center will definitely help students.
The government has also decided to launch an innovative scheme while ensuring students provide quality education,” Minister said.
Suttur Mutt Seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami, Deputy Chairperson of the State of Higher Education Board B Thimmegowda was among those present at the event.
