Lucknow: Former SP MLA and minister in the Government Akhilesh Yadav, Sharda Pratap Shukla, joined BJP with his supporters on Saturday.
He has won from the Sarojininagar Lucknow chair in 2012 on Tikir2jwadi Party (SP).
Shukla has submitted its nomination from Sarojininagar’s seat as an independent candidate on February 3 after SP did not give him a ticket, gave birth to another former Minister of Abhishek Mishra from the chair.
BJP candidate from Sarojininagar Rajeshwar Singh has met Shukla on Friday at the last residence.
Shukla has won from the Sarojininagar seat as an independent candidate in 1984, on Janata Dal tickets in 1989 and as a candidate of SP in 2012.
Shukla has joined BJP in 2015 but has come out of the party after 15 months.
When Shivpal Yadav formed Progatatheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSP-L), Shukla was one of the senior ministers to join new clothes after quitting the Sawajwadi Party.
