Lucknow: Special Task Force (STF) and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), in a joint operation in Sultanpur on Monday, confiscated 80 kg of caliphes (body parts) of freshwater turtles smuggled to make an aphrodisiac.
DYSP, STF, Deepak Kumar Singh said that Calice was in the Indian roof Turtle.
STF also arrested two people, Vinod and Jain Kumar, suspected of being a gang member involved in the smuggling of protected animals.
The defendant had been ordered under the relevant section of the Law of Margasatwa Protection, 1972.
The defendant told the police that the tortoise’s body parts were smuggled to West Bengal at a higher level and used to make an aphrodisiac drug.
