Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Agency (UPPCB) has taken effective steps to keep clean ganga water during Mela Magh which will be held in Prayagraj.
A few days back, the board had collected water samples from Farrukhabad to Fatehpur and found them satisfying.
According to Anil Kumar Mathur from the Office of the Regional Police Pollution Office, one team has visited Fatehpur and others to Farrukhabad to collect water samples.
Speaking with Toi, Mathur said water samples were collected regularly.
The dissolved oxygen level at the barrage point of the ganga and the jajmau point is found around 10 mg per liter against 5mg per liter which is a normal value.
Likewise, the level of dissolved oxygen in all other points is found 10 mg per liter.
The pollution control board has sent roaster to tanning the city located in the Jajmau area.
In accordance with the roaster, Tanneries in Jajmau must stop wet tanning three days before every day until March when Mela’s Magh will end.
Mela 47 days will begin on January 14 and conclude on March 1 on the Mahafivratri day.
There will be six main baths during Mela — Sankranti Makar (January 11/14), Payh Purnima (January 17), Mauni Amajasya (February 1), Basant Panchami (February 5), Maghi Purnima (February 16) and Mahashivratri ( March 1), said Mathur.
District judges have formed a committee to store tabs on tanning and it will go to the field starting January 11.
Committee members’ meetings are held here and discuss ways to apply the direction of the state government.
In addition, special direction has been spent to monitor distillation located on the edge of the Ganges.
These units will be monitored specifically those who have been punished recently, said Mathur further.
Meanwhile, in the litigation of public interest (pill), the Allahabad High Court has directed the state government to release 3200 water cusecs in Ganga so that the worshipers can get clean water.
It must be ascertained sewer or NULLAH removal is not poured into the river without being treated, the court ordered.
The court has also directed that the discharge of the factory and tanning in Kanpur must also not be dropped.
