Chennai: BJP State Unit President, President K Annamalai on Monday announced that the party will compete alone in the local body poll in Tamil Nadu.
However, the Alliance with AIDMK will continue for general elections in 2024.
Speaking to reporters at the party’s head office here, Annamalai said leaders and cadres wanted to compete in several chairs.
“We will not say it is a difficult decision.
Opportunities must be given to cadres at the grassroots, which works without stopping for parties.
It is a leadership decision to pay attention to their views, who have been fully hearty by national leadership,” said the President of the State.
He made a statement after failing to attack poll transactions with the main allies, AIADMK, who did not recognize to provide more than 10% of seats.
The BJP request is to get at least 20% of seats in urban local agencies, corporations, cities and panceshayats.
Annamalai said the alliance between AIADMK and BJP will continue in the future and at the national level in NDA.
“Our alliance will continue in the 2024 election.
There are no differences of opinion about it,” he said, given how Aadmk extended support to BJP in Article 370 and agricultural bills and Prime Ministerial Decree.
Likewise, BJP supports Edappadi K Palaniswami as CM candidates during the latest assembly selection.
Even when the leadership of both parties crashed into a poll transaction in local rural polls in nine districts, it was difficult to apply at the ground.
The delegation led by Annamalai held a marathon meeting with the leadership of AIADMK on Saturday.
