Washington: The United States has condemned the latest attack on the Shiite Mosque in the Province of Kunduz Afghanistan which killed more than 100 people.
“The United States condemns in the strongest terms of the current attack on worship on Friday prayers in Kunduz, Afghanistan.
We offer our deepest condolences to the victims and their families,” said the Foreign Ministry spokesman Ned.
“Afghans deserve a free future from terror,” added prices.
The Islamic State of Khorasan has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on the Shiite Mosque in the North Kunduz Province, New York Times (NYT) reported.
The UN assistance mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said initial information showed more than 100 people killed and injured in a suicide explosion in the mosque.
“Today’s incident was part of a disturbing pattern of violence: the 3rd death attack this week apparently targeted religious institutions.
The Islamic State (KP) claims responsibility for the incident on Sunday next to the Kabul Mosque.
Wednesday’s attack on Madrassa in Khost is not claimed, “Unama tweeted.
According to the NYT report, it was the group’s most deadly strike since the suicide bomb at the International Airport in Kabul on August 26 which killed around 170 civilians and 13 US troops.
Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesman, said investigators worked at the explosion.
Since the takeover of Taliban Afghanistan in mid-August, attacks by terrorists affiliated ISIL against them have increased.
The increase in terrorist attacks has increased the possibility of a wider conflict between the two groups.
