Rajkot: Following the same mode of operandi landed two thieves in the police net as a branch of local crime Bhavnagar solving cases of diamond theft and cash registered in June.
Diamonds worth 7.80 lakh and cash stolen from the Diamond Scaling Unit in Palitana from the Bhavnagar district.
Police Bhavnagar arrested Raju Thummar (35), a resident of Gadhadka Village at Savarkundla Taluka from Amreli and Ramesh Khokhar (58), a resident of Pramukh Sai Society in Yogi Chowk in a letter to carry out diamond theft.
HARESH JADAV (35), a resident of Pipardi Village has filed a complaint against unknown people after the policy unit was stolen on the night of intervention 26 and 27 June this year.
Thieves have used a gas cutter to open a safe and fall asleep with a diamond worth 7.80 lakh and Rs 70,000 cash.
The thieves have also stolen CCTV cameras and DVR (digital video recorders) to destroy evidence of crime.
The police passed the CCTV camera footage from the nearest diamond polish polish unit but did not find instructions.
“We then focused on the mode of operandi to carry out theft.
In two of the two cuts incidents opened a safe for carrying out theft, each Rs 22 Lakh and Rs 82 Lakh, reported from the letter,” said a police officer.
The police then gathered information about the defendants in these two cases, especially those who came out with a guarantee.
“We got the name Raju Thummar and detained him because he asked and then he claimed to commit a crime and also revealed the name Ramesh Khokhar.
We also detained Khokhar, further investigation,” added the official.
Police have recovered cellphones and diamonds worth Rs 3.90 lakh from the defendant.
